I am on my way to the bank to fund my envelopes and thought I would vent here before I get myself in to trouble.
Marty's pay check was almost $300 short. I have no idea if it is a bank error or payroll department error, because apparently I bank at the only bank in the world without 24 hour customer service. Marty has put a call in to his regional manager but he is on vacation this week, so he is probably sitting on a beach somewhere and really, who would answer their phone? Of course, there isn't much he can do because the payroll department isn't open until Monday.
So, he will try to calmly get this figured out, and if he doesn't have a satisfactory answer by Monday (his official pay day) he will kindly remind them that it is illegal to pay someone less than their salary, and it is illegal to pay them after their pay date. Ask TGI Friday's how we know that. Of course, he won't say that because he is too nice. That is why he deals with things like this and I just sit back and wait patiently like a chihuahua on crack.
So... while I am sure it was just an accounting error and is really no big deal, I am mad. Mad because our zero based budget is finally working in our favor, and this throws a wrench into it... kind of. The only reason I am not a stark raving lunatic is because this was also the week that his February bonus came in, which more than makes up for the amount he was shorted, and since we hadn't included the bonus in our budget (it was all being dumped on debt) it really doesn't change things.
There, I feel better already.
